Being a host to a Ragdoll kitten at Unomik`s Ragdolls
Being a foster for a kitten is a unique opportunity to become part of our breeding family, and at the same time have the joy of a beautiful and loving Ragdoll in your home. As a foster, you take care of the cat on a daily basis, while we as breeders are responsible for the breeding part.
What does it mean to be a forefather?
A foster agreement means that the cat lives with you as your own, but we have a joint agreement that it will be used for breeding for a limited period. For Ragdoll cats with us, this usually means a maximum of 2–3 litters before the cat is transferred to you as the full owner. It is important that the foster owner understands that the cat is not legally theirs until the agreement period is over and all conditions have been met. Only then will the cat be transferred into your name.

If you are the owner of a female cat
In the case of a female cat, the litter will be born in the foster home. I am present to assist with the birth, take photos, and attend all veterinary visits regarding the litter. I cover all breeding-related costs during this period. As the foster home, you are responsible for the daily care and love of both mother and kittens until they are ready for their new homes.
If you are the owner of a male cat
In the case of a male cat, the owner must be able to receive a female cat for a few days at a time when mating is to be carried out. The cat will be in demand for breeding at times, and we will arrange a time in advance so that it works well for all parties.
Exhibition
Regardless of gender, we may wish to take the cat with us to shows during the period the cat is still under the fostering agreement. We are responsible for all costs and practical details in connection with this.
In case of breach of agreement
The fostering agreement is based on mutual trust and respect for the terms we have agreed upon. Our desire is always that the cat can be transferred to the fosterer's name when the breeding period has ended, and that the collaboration ends in a positive manner. However, if the agreement or terms are breached, for example by failure to follow up on the cat's care, health or breeding-related obligations, this may result in us - as the legal owner of the cat - having the right to take the cat back immediately. In such cases, the fostering agreement will terminate, and the cat will not be transferred to the fosterer as its property.
Being a foster is a partnership built on trust, openness and a shared love for the breed. We want to create a good partnership where your cat gets the best of both worlds: safety and care in your home, and carefully planned breeding with us. If you think this might be something for you, get in touch – and we can find out if we are a good fit for each other.
